Dr. Stephen Elorriaga is
using Vet-Stem Regenerative Cells (VSRC) to help pets recover
from orthopedic surgery, such as a TPLO surgery, and also for
pets with severe arthritis. The cells used for this therapy are
derived from your pet's own fat cells and are capable of
differentiating into many tissue types including tendon,
cartilage, ligament and bone. This type of therapy has been
shown to regenerate healthy tissue to improve healing and
restore mobility for your pet.
Using sterile, surgical
techniques fat tissue is collected from the abdominal area of
your pet by our doctors. This tissue is then sent overnight to
the Vet-Stem lab where they isolate the stem cells. The cells
are then sent overnight back to SBAC for immediate use, or
banked at the Vet-Stem labs for future use. The stem cells are
then injected into the joint or joints that are injured and the
healing process begins. Results will vary between pets, but some
will start to show improvement within a few days, others may
take weeks to show improvement. In some cases, multiple
treatments may be needed to obtain the desired outcome.
If you would like to discuss the
possible benefits of VSRC therapy for your pet, please contact
